X-ray monitoring observations of the Crab Nebula
Abstract
We present new X-ray monitoring observations of the Crab Nebula performed with the Chandra X-ray observatory This program consists of 12 observations over 15 months which cover a factor of three longer period of time than our previous program Multiple X-ray bright wisps have been detected during the period They appear to be born about every half a year and the projected velocity is slowing down as they move outward Combined with previous Chandra observations we also show an update on the variations of the distorted jet and some expanding outer structures which vary much slower compared to the inner structures The spectral studies on each variable component are also presented
